About the event
Deep Brain Stimulation, often known as DBS, is a reversible, albeit invasive neurosurgical procedure where electrondes are implanted deep in the brain and electrical stimulation is delivered to treat slowness, stiffness, tremor, and dyskinesia. The surgery is usually performed while the patient is awake! For obvious reasons that has been a deterent for many people. Fear not, area neurosurgeon Dr Tavanaiepour, MD with UF Health Jacksonville, is now performing the surgery asleep. Join us to learn more about this technique with the surgeon himself!
