Give from your retirement assets - a tax-smart way to support rebloom
Did you know? If you are 70½ or older, you can make a gift to ReBloom directly from your IRA.
It’s called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), and it’s one of the most tax-wise ways to give.
Why it’s smart:
-
Tax savings – A QCD is not counted as taxable income.
-
Counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) – If you’re 73 or older, your gift can satisfy part (or all) of your Required Minimum Distribution.
-
Direct impact – Your gift supports free exercise and voice training, education and other health, wellness, and social programs for people affected by Parkinson’s.
How it works:
-
You must be 70½ or older.
-
Ask your IRA custodian (the bank, investment company, or financial advisor who manages your account) to send a distribution directly to the ReBloom Center.
-
The funds go straight from your IRA to ReBloom, never passing through your hands—so you avoid paying income tax on that amount.
Important Notes:
-
It is important that your gift is made directly from your IRA by your IRA administrator. Funds that are withdrawn by the account holder and then contributed do NOT qualify.
-
We must receive your gift by December 31, 2025 for your donation to qualify this tax year.
Mary - age 74 years
Mary, age 74, needed to take a $1,500 Required Minimum Distribution this year and she did not need all of it to cover her current living expenses. She asked her IRA administrator to send the $1,000 directly to ReBloom. She paid no income tax on the money, and her gift is helping people with Parkinson’s live stronger, healthier lives today and into the future.
