Learn about the new continuous levodopa pump - Vyalev

On Oct 17, 2024, the pharmacutical company Abbvie annouced that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved VYALEV (medicare approval is expected sometime in 2025). This new form of levodopa (usually taken orally) is delivered continuously via a pump, much like a person with diabetes uses a pump to deliver insulin. The small wearable pump delivers levodopa therapy under the skin all day and all night! Research has revealved improved "on" time compared to pills, it does not require surgery and it replaces levodopa pills.
